The video game card games are MUCH better and a whole lot more affordable than buying the actual cards and playing with them. With TCG games (actual cards) it is always the person with the most expensive deck or most expensive card wins, and some Yu-gi-oh cards can run you 100's of dollars or even thousands for a single card, plus the risk of getting those cards stolen or lost if everyone else knows you are the one with the best cards.

With the video game you have access to thousands of cards in one 30$ package and to earn more cards all you usually have to do is play more to meet certain requirements, no additional money to spend just to get new cards. It helps to keep the fun of the TCG alive without spending exhorbant amounts of money just so you can play with the best. Plus with wifi and the computer opponents there is always someone to play, no searching for an opponent or waiting for friends to play, just play anytime you want!
