Hey Mike, I think the 2 paragraph link to your earlier review is a bit excessive. I know you want to call out your work and all but... ;-) I'd fix it, but I'm literally out the door now!

That's weird... I had fixed that problem when I posted it originally. I remember seeing that and changing the tag. :-?

Heh, I saw that but also didn't have time to make a comment... I figured he must have REALLY liked the original. ;)

There's a case where you were wrong, but 100% right!
I'm playing the PS2 version now... finally. Man, it really is good!

I know you weren't, but you're forgetting that I'm incredibly jaded.

Noooo!!!! We can't have GamerDad jaded...

although there may be a renaissance happening:

and

GamerDad wrote:Guitar Hero II ... ... is great.
The co-op is fun as heck, the song list is spry and inventive (the inclusion of jam songs in co-op is amazingly satisfying), and aside from some atrocious vocals (Mother, Freebird, a few others) it all works great.

and this one didn't sound like you were playing under duress:
GamerDad wrote:I should add that I've been playing a lot of LEGO Star Wars 2, catching up with Kingdom Hearts 2, and I just took on assignments for Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) and Need For Speed: Carbon.

and...

GamerDad wrote:but I will say this... I might have been a bit underwhelmed with single player, but with two? Oh my god. My friend and I played for over an hour last night. It was one of the best - and most competitive - nights of gaming in my life. I'm totally jazzed!
<snipt>
Oh, and here is maybe the best testimonial you can get from a guy like me... I'm now, finally, actually looking at the release list and planning on making a lot of pre-orders soon. A lot of preorders. I want to see how every game plays on this tiny, powerful, cool, cute, and truly exciting new machine.

then...

GamerDad wrote:In more important news, I unlocked Freebird last night in GHII (Medium). HOLY CRAP!...

I unlocked Freebird in GH2! Yay!
(and Wii Sports is pretty fun too)
<three posts later>
Oh and in VERY important news. I beat Freebird! ROCK ON!
<seven posts later>
But playing Freebird is as it should be. Really tiring and really exhilerating.

Sounds to me like you've had at least one of those stone layers around your gamer heart smashed. :D

Ha!
Touche Mr. Puppy.

You forgot I'm also waxing eloquent about Elite Beat Agents lately....

Aside from NFS Carbon (which I'll be honest doesn't interest me much), what do those other games have in common? They're incredibly innovative. I mistakenly lumped Lego Star Wars in the "brilliant same-old" category and I was pretty much right in that assumption, except it's charming as all get out!

Now, I will admit that I did jump out of a moving car when I saw the box I knew was a Wii on my doorstep. So maybe a few layers went at that moment.

Mainly though, I am a bit jaded or tired or whatever. I mean, we cover all consoles right? Well, as of PS3 and Wii there are going to be 10 mostly viable consoles (including the PC). The Cube and Xbox will drop off eventually, so will GBA and PS2, but for right now this is an absolutely insane and frightening time.

PS: I might be the only person not excited about Gears of War in this industry.

darn! I knew there was another quote there somewhere. :)

Well, you know I'm feeling really tired about gaming too, so you know I'm going to agree with you on this.

Actually - if you'd said this last Sunday, I would have disagreed with you as I was not excited about it in the slightest. However, I have to now admit that once I played it during the week it's got my blood going a bit - UT is my favourite out of all the FPS titles, and GoW brings that goodness to the 360 with more "pretty".

However, I *will* also say that Viva Pinata actually has me more excited than GoW - that game is very clever and I can see it doing really well from a gameplay point of view.

Can't I enjoy the games I've got? Sheesh!
Why do all the good ones have to come out RIGHT FREAKING NOW? I loathe this time of year now, and that's sort of contrary to the whole dad thing. ;-)
