Just a quick second opinion, not attacking anyone or anything.
Actually, I didn't like Sonic Rush. Too many cheap deaths where you are going so fast that you don't see that bottomless pit in front of you. Poor level design on that part. I think a little kid would get frustrated by this. My brothers did, anyway, and they're bigger Sonic nuts than I am. For a game with such emphasis on speed, they sure do punish you for it. I thought the 3-D sprites looked horrible, espeically from far away. And I didn't like the music either. Sure, it may have been nice in a Jet Grind Radio game. But ask yourself this: can you still hum the Chemical Plant Zone song? How about Green Hill? Yeah, probably. But can you hum any of the tunes from Sonic Rush? Not me! They're not very catchy.
I DO, however, really like the boss battles in Sonic Rush. The 3-D yet 2-D perspective reminds me of the boss battles in Klonoa games, which may be why I like them so much. I also like how, in the boss battles, Tails or Cream will cheer you on the bottom screen as you fight. "Go, Sonic!" I thought that was really cute.
But don't worry, I don't hate all Sonic games. I love Sonic 3, Spinball, and 3-D Blast on the Genesis and Sonic Advance 1 and 3 on the GBA. Heck, I even think Sonic Heroes had some good ideas. I'm probably the only one in the world who didn't like Sonic Rush, though. --Cary
