I've picked up fire Emblem VII again (set it down to play Dungeon Siege 2) and I just love this game...and I hate it :) My problem is I get attached to characters (well, all of them) and hate to see anyone out of commission so I tend to replay when I do something stupid, which is frequent. I just finished that one chapter where you have to fight your way to the pirate ship and can either do it the hard way or the easy way and I took the hard way of course. I made it after a few attempts and then decided to try out the arena....ARRGGGGhhh. I lost Oswin twice and I really like him...he cracks me up trudging to attack. I just finished up with no deaths and went from 3300 to 11000 in gold which was my main goal (to make money). I like to stock up on weapons and stuff because, well, I'm a stocker/hoarder person :D

I had played Sacred Stones and stopped at chapter 5 because I had found VII on sale. *That* was a hard chapter too. You had to get that cleric in to talk to Joshua? the myrmidon and I finally managed to do it. Since I've played VII I'm beginning to learn a few tricks so....

I had/have the same problem.... some of it is attachment, and some of it is "optimization".... I'm afraid that if I lose one or two guys or gals here and there maybe I won't be powerful enough in the end... :(

I got very attached to *all* of my characters ... that made it take so much longer as I was unwilling to lose *anyone* ... but that is part of what made it one of the year's faves for me.

I don't feel alone now. I have to say I love this game but it is one of the most stressful games I've played. I'll play for a few days then set it aside to relax. I'm hooked though but at the rate I'm going, there were be a new FE game for the Revolution :D

Yep, I've never completed one yet but I own all of them beccause I knew the minute I started playing the game, it was great.

Again, it's good to hear someone feels about the characters as I do.

Oh! Did you use the Arena much? Thats where I derive a lot of stress. I'm not willing to take too many chances with it but I'm afraid if I don't, I'll hose myself in later chapters :P

I used it a few times and liked it. However, the one time I KNEW I was in for it, I tried hitting the button to "bow out" of the arena but it didn't work at all... my guy kept getting hammered 2 or 3 more times and then I was dead.... Very annoying.

Hehe, same here. I had the hard chapter (the arena's always seem to be in a hard chapter) and after several attempts I made it to the arena and lost Oswin. Redid the chapter and tried the arena again...and lost Oswin again. I couldn't lose him...he cracks me up watching him trundle up to the enemy :) I finally made it and when I had a decent amount of gold (forget levelling everone to obscene levels to promote) I quit.

Yeah, the B button to back out didn't work for me either with Oswin. It had worked before....

I don't know how many times I had to retry some of those things ... but I agree - I would *not* lose anyone!

Good! I thought maybe I was being stupid and missing some strategy in the game. Sometimes though, I wish the A.I. could be a little brain dead

I don't feel stupid now.

Oh, have you gone through the game again on Hector mode or the second mode in Sacred Stones?

No ... unfortunately that sits in the long line of 'have to replay this' games ...
