It's really a shame that they felt the need to go 3D, when the gameplay has worked brilliantly in 2D for years. That's why this was such good news :)

I agree with the camera comments -- it is a bit frustrating. We got the Worms 3D for the cube this Christmas. Fortunately, we had already played it and understood the limitations beforehand.

As it was, it is under $20 brand new and a fun multiplayer experience, as well as an introduction to strategy gaming.

The DS version looks like it might be entertaining as well.....

Loved Scorched Earth (made by a Caltech Alumn) and then Worms when it first came out.

I was excited to get it when it came out on the GB Color but it was a little dissappointing as it didn't have the grapple hook rope thing... that was just a key part of the game play... it was still pretty good though.

Got the announcement, Worms is coming to PSP and DS in oldschool 2D format. Seems a natural for the DS, if you ask me.

The PSP version is called 'Open Warfare', and GameSpot has some screens up here.

Yeah, it's a tricky decision - the DS version should have the better control (being able to quickly choose a weapon is important in Worms), but the PSP version looks great and the widescreen format adds an interesting wrinkle.
