I've only played the beginning - PC version - but from what I saw this shares the same problem as the expansion pack to the first one. Too much scripting. I take it that's true here as well? Ah well, at least nobody else does this kind of shooter better.

Very much true - all of the areas are heavily scripted.

However, unlike in the United Offensive expansion and Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, you won't often find yourself tripping over the scripts ... things flow much better. You also don't run into 'ghost spawning' ...

As much as I liked Call of Duty I and the expansion, I'm not up to CoDII
I'm no longer a young codger who can take the intensity of some of those missions.
Both the original and the expansion mission supplied the player with one mission where you'd pull your hair out
Though the Last Russian series, might be said to have 2, at least for me

As was mentioned, the save system lends too much to the consoles, If I've been playing this one mission for near half an hour and it's time for dinner, I don't want to go back

Call of Duty 2 is a shooting gallery. I knew that before, I reviewed the first two games, but I think I've pegged something that bothers me about the series. It's not just the scripting, it's the plasticity. Shooting things you can't hurt is common in these kinds of games, but in BF1942, for example, fruitlessly unloading on a tank feels satisfying. Here it feels like nothing.

It's a great cinematic adventure game but as a shooter, it feels more like Rebel Assault than Dark Forces.

Oh, also, I didn't know this. Apparently the Xbox 360 and PC games are identical, but the other consoles have a game designed by a different team.
