I found Wind Waker boring, and it was the first 3D Zelda I've played.

Some dungeons were nice, but they moslyt felt pretty uninspired. Couple were just plain boring and frustrating. Especially co-operating/playing with/as two other characters was pain in the butt, and the dungeons that were not by any means hard, but you if you fell down in a wrong place you had to go the same route through again and again...

Someone (I think braindead person) praised WW for being huge. Right. How many less full dungeons it has than any other Zelda? I don't think you'd get a half of the size of Ocarina of Time if you put all the islands together. The technical size of it counts to nothing, especially considering that travelling between the islands was pure mental agony.

The lack of difficulty might be great for younger gamers, but for me it kinda just added to the boredom. You basically just kept pushing attack until the enemy was dead, waited for an opening to attack or waited for the change for a special attack... Notice the italics on the words "wait"? Yeah... I suppose that's not the problem, the waiting, as much as the fact that the enemies really don't give you any hard time while you are waiting to strike. That's what makes it boring, there's no challenge, you only wait for an opening and press A.
The lack of challenge really kills any fun the bosses could have been, too (though the last one remains pretty awesome still, though the lack of challenge made me do unnecessary moves on purpose to make it look cooler).

It's not a bad game though, just not a very good one either. And while Zelda deserves to be called a great series, I'd say this one is a Zelda that just shows how much of a Holy Cow the series really is. You can expect a Zelda be praised because it's a Zelda. It's not the only series that get a special treatment, but I think it still does.

The graphics are nice, that I have to agree on.

...the formula that defined action role-playing...

A part of me dies always when someone calls Zelda an RPG.

I love Zelda, but agree with that - I see it as pure action-adventure.

my 10yo is replaying that (once we had gamecrazy grind the disc to remove the scratches). its fun to watch my youngest boy 6 watch him while he plays.

i played through that when we first got it and my kids just watched as if it was some great TV show.

great game, my 6yo plays and for the most part can hold his own in the game, so its got a good age spread too.

This is quite the little stroll down Amnesia Lane here. ;)

We love Windwaker at my house. Phantom Hourglass is also fun. I always giggle when my daughter starts trying to blow her DS up like a balloon to clear away fog or whatever.
