Well done. Just the facts, m'am.

You think so? Good. I know you're a great fan of the game and I thought my honesty about how I felt that it is certainly "well made" yet the middle-of-the-road-ness, the unremarkableness, and the poorly told story made me kinda "meh." 4 of 5 is actually a bit higher than I thought was going to go (and then I played and enjoyed co-op, with multiplayer over live tipping the balance) would put fans off.

But I just don't get all the perfect scores this game is getting. I mean comparing it to Bioshock is like comparing LOTR with Terry Brooks.

I really enjoyed Halo 3, though it is very different than Bioshock. I find it hard to compare them because they have such a different feel. I like both, but I think Halo 3 is more likely to get played again by me.

LOTR v. Terry Brooks. This will sound like heresy, but I find Tolkien to be very dull, though I will say that the Sword of Shannara was terrible.

Your comments are true. I appreciated your input on this one. For someone who isn't steeped in it's lore, you seem to be dead on the money. But I've found that with Halo3, even more than it's predecessors, the game is what you make of it.

I love Bioshock, too. But it just doesn't have the depth of interaction options and the customization. The higher intensity of the content is also troublesome - there is no way on God's green Earth I'm going to be playing through that one with my daughters.

Bioshock for me was like reading a really good book. I had a great time but once I was done, I was done. Me and mine will be making our own stories in Halo 3 for a long time to come.

Halo 3 is a odd case because whenever I look at it like a critic. Objectively, comparatively, etc., I end up with vanilla - not just compared to Bioshock, I don't have a lot of comparisons to make - I'm only recently comfy with console shooters - but I think Metroid and Resistence on the Wii and PS3 blow Halo 3 away as well for different reasons. But vanilla is good, it's just interesting that vanilla has become the favorite Xbox 360 flavor -- but that's okay. This is good vanilla.
